Principals

The principals of our firm have extensive senior-level managerial experience in healthcare, education and social service at national and international levels.  From management to marketing, they have been well informed by their own careers and by their close work with diverse clients.  Few managerial challenges and organizational possibilities escape their attention or exceed their problem-solving capabilities.  They also donate considerable time to board-level involvement with nonprofit groups.  In addition to the principals, there is a stellar group of professionals from various fields who can be called upon for their expertise 

ANN BRANCATO has over 35 years experience in hospitals, educational institutions and social service agencies with over 25 years of senior-level management experience in administration, strategic planning, fundraising, marketing and public relations. She has supervised staffs ranging from six to 165 persons.  In addition, her scientific and research background has enabled her to develop protocols and to pursue funding from all avenues of government and private philanthropic sources. She has also established collaborative programs within the international medical community. Organizations for which she has worked include:  National Council on Alcoholism, American Health Foundation, Polytechnic University of New York, City University of New York, International Center for the Disabled and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.  In a clinical capacity, Ms. Brancato has worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital Center and Pelham Bay General Hospital.  In addition, she serves or has served on the Boards of Directors of The League Treatment Center, Polytechnic University of New York (Long Island), Man Foundation (Long Island) and Horizon Television (Washington, D.C.).

RICHARD ALTOMONTE is a grant manager and writer with more than 15 years experience as a development professional.  His expertise ranges from government grants (at the federal, state and local levels) to major corporate and foundation grants.  His fundraising efforts, including grant research, development and implementation, as well as sponsorship solicitation, have succeeded in securing more than $10 million for charitable causes on Long Island and in New York City.  Mr. Altomonte’s broad fundraising success ranges across the fields of health, education, youth development, culture and the arts.  He has been Director of Development for the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, the Education Center for Prostate Cancer Patients, the Huntington Arts Council and the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence.  He is founder and President of History Film, a not-for-profit organization that has produced historical documentaries and will produce a forthcoming documentary on the final years of the life of Mark Twain.

IRWIN BROD has over 40 years experience in fund-raising management, both as a consultant for 22 years and a chief development officer for 18 years. Mr. Brod has become identified with the acquisition of “big gifts,” the capacity to handle unusual client situations, and clients who wish to “stretch” the philanthropic marketplace.  He has provided fund-raising counsel to hospitals, medical centers, national voluntary health organizations and other health-related organizations and has been successful in bringing innovative solutions to challenges in strategic fund raising, organizational branding, capital and major gifts campaigns, and day-to-day operational issues faced by the institutions he has served.

JOSEPH BURKART has served as a senior development and marketing executive for over 30 years. He was acting CEO of a New York City hospital and has held executive level positions in numerous institutions such as Executive Vice President of Pace University, Vice President of Polytechnic University of New York, National Director of Marketing and Development of Boys and Girls Clubs of America, National Campaign Director of Vassar College and Northeast Regional Director of Dartmouth College.  He presently serves as a Trustee of the Williamsburg Community Foundation and is a Commander in The Order of St. John.  He is Chairman Emeritus of the The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and was Chairman of the American Lyme Disease Foundation. He also is the founder of "Volunteer-Williamsburg," an interactive web-based organization which matches volunteer talents with non-profit needs.  

NANCY COZEAN is the founder of Cozean Communications and has more than 35 years experience as a successful businesswoman, an award winning broadcast journalist, and a seasoned public relations professional, specializing in programming, presentations, advocacy and event planning.  She created and produced broadcast programs, and has reported and anchored newscasts in the major television markets of Washington, D.C., St. Louis and Albany.  She produces and hosts Hudson Valley Views, an award winning local program on the Mid Hudson Time Warner Cable system.  She developed and produced weekend programs for Cablevision’s first New Jersey 24-hour news station, NEWS 12 NEW JERSEY.  Ms. Cozean currently serves as a media and public relations advisor for private and non-profit organizations.  She was the Public Relations Director for the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association, the second largest hospital association in New York State.  She was the mayor of the City of Poughkeepsie and has served as the Director of Tourism Communications in the New York State Department of Economic Development.

SHARLENE HOBERMAN has directed the public relations and media efforts in higher education for almost 30 years.  Her marketing documents and publications have received national recognition for design and content.  Previous to working in the non-profit sector, Ms. Hoberman was a journalist for various national newspapers, including the Journal American.

TODD RICE is an Industrial Psychologist, an international consultant dedicated to channeling areas of personal effectiveness to the needs of businesses. Todd has 14 years experience and brings a unique combination of creativity and expertise to his clients.  His most salient accomplishments have been to assist his clients and their work force to capitalize on individual strengths and to develop a group dynamic to increase team productivity.  This has been achieved through executive coaching, group trainings and other programs.  He has consulted for the medical, educational, financial and travel industries.
